Your child’s early years are critically important for the development of self-regulation, motor skills, social skills, and self-care skills. These skills serve as a foundation for development.
An occupational therapy evaluation involves a comprehensive assessment of a child’s skills, strengths, and areas of concern related to their occupational performance. This typically includes:
- Developmental history
- Standardized assessments
- Clinical observations
- Parent/caregiver interviews
Based on the evaluation findings, the occupational therapist will formulate recommendations for interventions, therapy goals, and strategies to support the child’s development and functional performance.
Private pediatric occupational therapy treatment sessions typically include a range of activities tailored to the individual needs of the child. This can include:
- Therapeutic activities
- Sensory integration therapy
- Motor skill development
- Play-based interventions
- Caregiver and/or teacher education and training
- Environmental modifications
- Functional activities
- Milestone management & maintenance
Throughout the sessions, therapists often collaborate closely with parents/caregivers to monitor progress, adjust goals as needed, and provide support and guidance for carrying over therapy techniques in the home and school environments.
Formal evaluations typically take 7-10 days for the report to become available. I will contact you as soon as the report has been completed to discuss your child's treatment plan. Treatment plans are unique to each client and customizable. I welcome parental involvement so that we can properly target your child's goals.
